Guns & Gulaabs is set in the early ’90s in a small town in India named Gulaabgunj, where the predominant crop is the opium poppy.

The series begins with the death of Babu Tiger, a trusted henchman of Ganchi, a drug lord in Gulaabgunj. Everyone expects Babu’s son, Tipu (Rajkummar Rao), a mechanic, to follow in his father’s footsteps and join Ganchi’s gang. However, Tipu is reluctant to do so and wants to live a peaceful life with his girlfriend.
